Dental Crowns and Bridges

Our goal is to provide undetectable dentistry. We replace existing dental crowns and fillings with restorations that not only look and feel like natural teeth but also blend seamlessly with your natural smile.

How long does it take to fit a dental crown?

Fitting a crown is a meticulous process that requires at least two visits to our office. During the first visit, we will remove any decay, shape the tooth to prepare it for the crown, and fit it with a temporary acrylic crown. This temporary crown serves to protect the prepared tooth while the final crown is being made.

On the subsequent visit, we will remove the temporary crown and then fit and adjust the final crown. Finally, we will cement it into place, and you have a new, beautiful, and functional tooth.

Key Benefits of Dental Crowns

  • Restores damaged or decayed teeth.
  • Offers support to misshapen teeth or badly broken teeth.
  • Looks completely natural.
  • Fixes “smile” and functional chewing problems, restoring not just your appearance but also your ability to eat and speak comfortably.

What are the capabilities of crowns?

Crown and bridgework are reliable solutions for major dental problems caused by accidents, diseases, or wear and tear. These techniques can usually correct major problems. The material used in these repairs is usually high-grade porcelain. Where accidental damage has occurred, teeth have broken away through excessive wear or old fillings have broken, dental crowns and/or dental bridges can be used as a long-term solution.

Many people have unexplained pain from filled back teeth, which is usually due to hairline cracks in the chewing part of the tooth. Placing crowns on these teeth relieves the pain and allows a return to full dental function. In front teeth, older fillings can weaken the teeth and cause “appearance” problems due to staining or chipping. Porcelain crowns and bridges are suitable in cases where porcelain veneers are not. In teeth with root canal fillings, crowns can prevent breakage after the root canal is completed.

Dental Bridges

All of your teeth play an important role in speaking, chewing, and maintaining proper alignment of other teeth. Tooth loss doesn’t necessarily have to occur as you age, but if you do lose teeth, they must be replaced to maintain the proper function of your mouth. Fortunately, there are options for correcting tooth loss.

Dental Bridge Options

A dental bridge — a device used to replace missing teeth — attaches artificial teeth to adjacent natural teeth, called abutment teeth. Bridges are permanently attached to the natural teeth on either end of the gap where teeth are missing. Fixed bridges are applied by placing crowns on the abutment teeth to support the bridge’s artificial teeth.

If you’re missing one or more teeth, you may be aware of their importance to your appearance and dental health. Your teeth work together for many daily functions, from eating to speaking. With missing teeth, it’s difficult to do these things. Missing teeth can and should be replaced. Bridges are a great way to restore your dental health and appearance.

What is the difference between a dental bridge and a partial denture?

A bridge is a fixed restoration that is permanently attached to the remaining teeth in your mouth and is not removable for cleaning or when you sleep. On the other hand, a partial denture is a prosthetic device that can be taken out for cleaning and at night. It attaches to the adjacent teeth using clasps or fasteners.

Implant Bridges

Implant bridges are another form of fixed bridge. However, instead of being supported by adjacent teeth using crowns, the bridge is permanently attached to dental implants surgically placed in the jawbone. An implant bridge has a longer lifespan than other forms of dental bridges and incredible stability.

Why do I need a dental bridge?

Oral functionality and appearance are important reasons for investing in a bridge.  Dental health is the most important reason for a bridge. Teeth were designed to complement each other. When teeth are missing, unusual stresses are placed on the gums and other oral tissues, causing a number of potentially harmful disorders.

The increased risk of gum disease has proven to be one of the worst side effects of missing teeth, and it can be minimized with a bridge. Missing teeth can cause speech disorders as they are used to make many of the sounds we use to speak clearly.

Aesthetically, a bridge helps support your lips and cheeks. The loss of a back tooth may cause your mouth to sink and your face to look older.

How is a dental bridge attached?

The attachment procedure usually takes two or three appointments to complete. At the first appointment, Dr. Singh will prepare the teeth on either side of the missing tooth by removing a portion of the enamel and dentin. This allows room for the crown and ensures secure attachment.

Since the bridge must be fabricated precisely to ensure the correct bite and match the opposing tooth, digital impressions of the teeth are taken and sent to a lab where the bridge will be constructed.

Fixed bridges are typically cemented to the natural teeth next to the space left by the missing tooth. A pontic (false tooth) replaces the lost tooth. Dental crowns, which are cemented onto the natural teeth, provide support for the bridge.

How do I take care of my bridge?

A strict brushing and flossing regimen will keep the bridge and surrounding teeth clean. This is critical as the bridge relies on the neighboring teeth for support.
