Dental Implants in Woodland

Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing their teeth appear natural and their facial contours are preserved. The implants are tiny titanium posts placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. In addition, dental implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing.

Dental implants are changing the way people live. With them, people are rediscovering the comfort and confidence to eat, speak, laugh, and enjoy life.

Evaluation for Dental Implants

If, like many others, you feel implant dentistry is the choice for you, we ask that you undergo a dental/radiographic examination and health history. During your consultation visit, Dr. Singh will address your specific needs and considerations. Your questions and concerns are important to us, and our team will address them and explain the process clearly, so you are prepared for and understand what to expect.

Dental Implants Procedures

Dental implants are metal anchors that act as tooth root substitutes. They are surgically placed into the jawbone. Small posts protruding through the gums are then attached to the implant. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.

For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves several visits to our office. First, dental implants are placed within your jawbone. For the first three to six months following surgery, the implants are beneath the surface of the gums, gradually bonding with the jawbone. You should be able to wear temporary artificial teeth and eat a soft diet during this time. If you do not have sufficient jawbone to support the implants, we may have to perform a bone grafting procedure before the implants are placed to ensure there is enough bone structure to provide a stable foundation for dental implants. This can alter your dental implant timeline.

The second phase begins after the dental implant has bonded to the jawbone. Dr. Singh will uncover the implants and attach a small healing abutment. A digital impression must be taken to use as a template for your permanent restoration. Then, posts or attachments can be connected to the implants. At your next visit, the final implant crowns are delivered and are “tried on” so that any needed adjustments can be made. The replacement teeth are then placed and permanently attached to the abutments. The entire implant process can range from three to seven months and varies from patient to patient. Most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life.
